Water Safety
We actively promote water safety in the community by providing life jackets at our local lake. In addition to helping fit jackets for both adults and children we also advise on the dangers of the lake.
Lake Cle Elum is an amazing place to visit and live, but sometimes danger can lurk beneath the waves, especially during high wind. In the last several years, multiple people have lost their lives to drowning in our area, 3 of them were children. None of these victims were wearing live jackets, and Kittitas County Fire District 6 wants to change that! We have installed a life jacket station at Speelyi Beach, a temporary stand at Wish Poosh Campground & Boat Launch and a temporary stand at Station 62 (Last Resort). We have donated life jacket stands to several agencies, including Kittitas County Fire District 3 (Easton) and Snoqualmie Pass Fire. We provide these trailers free of charge to any fire/EMS agency in Kittitas County.
